Art Theatre of Long Beach

Originally the Carter Theatre when it opened in 1924, this Spanish Colonial Revival venue is Long Beach's oldest operating cinema. After the 1933 earthquake, it was rebuilt in Art Deco style and renamed the Art Theatre in 1947 when it pivoted to foreign and art films. Now a designated Long Beach Historical Landmark, it remains the last independent theater of its kind in the area.
