Davis Square's architectural gem opened in 1914 for vaudeville, opera, and 'that new fad—motion pictures.' Today five screens showcase independent and repertory films, while the ornate main auditorium hosts concerts and special events. A century later, the Hobbs Building remains the neighborhood's cultural anchor.
