Designed by renowned NYC architect William Hohauser and built in 1939, the Avon premiered with "It's a Wonderful World" starring James Stewart and Claudette Colbert. After closing in 1999, the Royce Family Foundation purchased and restored this downtown Stamford landmark, reopening it in 2004 as a nonprofit member-supported cinema with two beautifully preserved auditoriums seating over 500.
